Miami: Wildfox Swim Keeps Things Hipster-Chic at Fashion Week Swim
Wildfox Couture was one of the closing shows of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013, putting on a fun and flirty showcase of patriotic prints and girly florals. The indie and vintage-inspired brand stood true to their audience, sending models down the runway in 007-themed wigs, sunnies, and bowties. The ladies high-fived the audience and twirled around each other as “These Boots Were Made For Walking” blared over the speaker system.
Designed by childhood pals Emily Faulstich and Kimberly Gordon, Wildfox presented an array of printed flags, stars, and stripes in blue and pink pastels. Several items donned similar details in black, but lacked the flair the preceding looks. Each piece looked comfortable and easy to wear, making it clear this brand never really takes itself too seriously.
Screened bottoms and tops also rocked beach-inspired slogans like “get a tan” and “coconut oil.” The lines were a tad literally, but endearing non-the-less. A few sweet florals made an appearance, but felt detached from the previous looks. This is one of those rare fashion week shows that truly belongs to the free spirits of the world.
