My family and friends decided to surprise me for a belated birthday dinner at Komodo. Since this is the owner of LIV I wanted to see how this gastro-club atmosphere would pan out and I was not disappointed. We came during happy hour and they had some decently priced beverages and appetizers. I had the basil Martini that was fresh, and I really enjoyed it. What was really cool, is that the bartender gave us special shots for my bday at happy hour prices even though it wasnt on the menu.
We were seated at a booth for dinner and order a bunch of appetizers. Some stand outs was the lobster dynamite. Delicious with crispy rice-potato like base. We also enjoyed the Kung Pao calamari as it was zesty. The Hamachi Jalapeno was very fresh.
For dinner my sister ordered the noodles, Mushroom Lo mein delicious and creamy and carbonara-esque that accompanied the lobster wonderfully. The hong kong grilled lobster was perfectly cooked lobster. We topped it off with a Cloud Nine which was chocolate mousse, milk chocolate cremeux, chocolate sauce, spiced caramel popcorn – delicious.
Honestly given the venue, and the ok- reviews, I was apprehensive, but I think its a beautiful establishment, good for people watching, good food and just walkable distance from my apartment.
